MAKING POVERTY A PRIORITY - David Congreve, Assistant Chief Executive (Torfaen County Borough Council)

Anti-Poverty: Corporate approaches to a crosscutting issue WLGA Conference - 19th June 2014

Aim of the workshop:

The purpose of this workshop is to explore how local authorities can develop a successful, joined-up approach to tackling poverty. Participants will discuss what can be done at a strategic level to ensure priorities and processes are geared towards the eradication of poverty, as well as what can be done operationally to develop coordinated, preventative services that meet the needs of citizens and communities now and into the future.

The workshop is aimed at Elected Members and local authority officers who have an interest in tackling poverty, and in particular, local authority Anti Poverty Champions. The session will provide an opportunity to learn from current practice, as well as sharing experiences and approaches developed in your own organisations
