Case study evaluation of the transform and modernise transport services in North Wales project

European Social Fund

The proposal for funding looked to provide greater coordination to the transformation change project, reduce administration costs and reduce duplication of service provision. Previously each of the six local authorities delivered transport services independently across relatively small demographic areas. Collaborative work had increased in the years prior to this project, and some savings had been made and further savings had been identified through consultancy analysis. Budgetary pressures across local government, but particularly for transport services, meant that the existing service delivery system was not sustainable. The high level aim was to develop a single hub for the delivery of all local authority transport services in North Wales. The collaboration would manage around £48m of public expenditure.
