Cynefin in Cefn Mawr

Seeing is Believing - Co-production Case Studies from Wales

Cynefin is a Welsh Government programme which aims to improve the well-being of deprived communities across Wales. Eleven ‘Place Coordinators’ engage with the community, facilitate communication between all stakeholders, and empower the local residents to improve their quality of life. In Cefn Mawr we explored what residents are passionate about and what mattered to them in their own lives. We identified ways to remove barriers and create new projects to improve people’s quality of life. We brought local residents together alongside statutory and voluntary services who contributed expertise and funding. We have created a number of projects under the broad remits of tourism and community growing; most are still ongoing. The process has built community capacity, brought immediate benefits, and created a legacy for the future.
