Cynefin in the Rhondda - Managing our natural resources

Seeing is Believing - Co-production Case Studies from Wales

Cynefin is a Welsh Government programme to improve the well-being of deprived communities across Wales. Eleven ‘Place Coordinators’ engage with the community, facilitate communication between all stakeholders, and empower the local residents to improve their quality of life. Under the Environment Bill, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) will have a duty to manage natural resources sustainably in Wales. To prepare for this, NRW undertook three exploratory area-based trials in Rhondda, Tawe and Dyfi. In the Rhondda trial Cynefin was asked to connect up NRW officers with local stakeholders and community partners. Facilitated events were held to identify issues, challenges and opportunities; to develop an area-based statement; and to identify and develop projects that the local community could deliver on the ground.
