The first phase of work delivered by the sCAMHS work stream has been a Baseline Variations and Opportunities (BVO) assessment of sCAMHS. This was the first comprehensive audit of sCAMHS undertaken with all health boards in Wales to:
- Highlight and minimise variations in Welsh services
- Provide an opportunity to share good practice
- Identify areas to target the additional £7.65m CAMHS investment
- Identify areas for high impact change of service improvement.
Following on from the audit, the work stream developed a Framework to support health boards to achieve consistent outcomes across Wales. The first edition was launched in June 2016. It provides a clear definition of the role of sCAMHS, together with pathways for Crisis Care, Eating Disorders and Early Intervention in Psychosis. Additional pathways will be developed as areas of high impact change are agreed.
